I got an Amazon Echo Dot recently. I liked it so much I bought another. Then I went to review an app for this smart speaker. The app is the NPR One App I like very much. And it had really bad reviews. When I clicked on the review button I got this message:
“Your previous review of this product did not comply with our Customer Reviews Guidelines. Amazon does not permit reviews from customers whose relationship to the product or seller may be perceived as biased.“
Which is really weird! I have no business relationship with NPR, nor whoever made the app. I’ve never accepted money or products or any other favor for a review. I don’t sell anything on Amazon.
I contacted Amazon and in the chat they said I could leave a review now. But I tried and still couldn’t. The online world is full of these weird Orwellian situations where one has no idea they’ve even been banned from something, then when they discover they are there’s nobody to tell them why and to undo the ban. I’m assuming something I wrote was picked up in an algorithm – or who knows maybe my account has been hacked. But I would have assumed that a thief would order products on my account, not write reviews.
Anybody else have this happen to them?
